Second Skin tattoo Aftercare

Leave Second Skin/Saniderm on for 2-3 days. You may shower with the bandage on.

If discomfort or redness occurs before then, carefully remove it in the shower.

Once it is carefully removed, wash the area with mild soap. We recommend Dr. Bronner’s or Cetaphil cleanser. Lather, rinse well, and gently pat dry with a clean towel. Air dry for a few minutes, then apply a light coat of Pegasus Cream into the healing tissue. Keep the wound clean by washing it 2-3 times per day and reapplying the cream.

Minimize contact with clothing, hair, or jewelry.

Once completely healed (2-3 months) make sure you use sunblock.

Bandage tattoo AFTERCARE

Days 1 - 2

We recommend keeping that bandage on for at least 3 to 5 hours, but sleeping with it for one night is fine. Wash the tattoo as soon as you wake up every morning and then 2 to 3 times per day for the first 48 hours.

We recommend using a Cetaphil cleanser or another gentle, unscented cleanser.

After cleaning your tattoo, apply a light coat of Pegasus Ointment. Alternatively, you may use Bacitracin, A&D Ointment, or Herbal Savvy.

Avoid aloe vera as it dries out the skin and will make your tattoo heal poorly.

Days 2 - 4

Apply Pegasus Ointment liberally throughout the day. Washing your tattoo in a quick shower is recommended, but remember to not soak!

Days 5 - 15

Do not peel, scratch, or rub your tattoo. If it feels super itchy, you can slap it, this will provide a bit of relief, or re-apply a light coat of ointment.

Continue to apply lotion as needed. Remember tattoos take approximately 1-3 weeks to initially heal, but takes a total of 2-3 months to heal completely, be patient and treat your tattoo with care.
